What are Orthodontics?

Orthodontic treatment is crucial for perfecting your smile when it’s crooked, crowded and misaligned. Most people do not have perfectly straight teeth. When your smile gets in the way of your confidence and your ability to brush and floss properly, orthodontics can be helpful in improving your quality of life. It’s never too early or too late to consider orthodontic treatment, either for yourself or a child.

Why is Orthodontic treatment needed?

Orthodontic treatment can be helpful for patients who have less-than-perfect teeth. Treatment is customized to your individual needs, so you are always receiving personalized care when you need it. Some of the reasons you’d need or want orthodontic treatment include:

  • Under and overbites
  • Crowding
  • Misaligned and crooked teeth
  • Spaces and gaps

Who’s A Candidate For Orthodontics

Who’s a candidate for Orthodontics?

Dr. Letran will examine your teeth to determine if orthodontic treatment would help your smile. Orthodontics are ideal for patients of all ages. We often recommend children to come into the office for a consultation around the time they’re seven or eight years old. If you’re an adult, it’s never too late to take control of your smile and improve your confidence.

What happens during Orthodontic treatment?

Orthodontic treatment normally begins with a consultation. The consultation involves x-rays, impressions and an exam to help in creating a personalized treatment plan just for you. You will then come in and begin the treatment that you’ve chosen. For clear braces, impressions are used to make new aligner trays that you’ll wear for the majority of the day and night. With any orthodontic treatment, it is vital that you come into the office every few weeks for adjustments and fittings. Orthodontic care can take anywhere from a few months to several years depending on how severely crowded and crooked your teeth currently are.

We’ve been serving the El Monte and Mountain View areas for 15 years and are able to communicate easily with our bilingual patient. We welcome you to call our office for more information on orthodontic treatment and to schedule an appointment.
