The same can be said about a cleaning, which is performed by a registered dental hygienist. Cleanings remove tartar, which is a hardened plaque on the teeth that can contribute to decay and gum disease.
How often should you go for Dental Exams & Cleanings?
We recommend a cleaning and exam every six months. Regardless of age and the quality of your smile, these bi-annual appointments are essential for keeping your teeth looking their best. If you’re a parent, it’s never too soon or too early to bring your child in for their first exam. Likewise, if it’s been awhile since your last appointment, it’s never too late to take charge of your oral health.
What can be expected during Dental Exams & Cleanings?
The exam and cleaning process typically begins with x-rays that are taken to be used during the examination itself. The hygienist then performs the cleaning to remove hardened plaque and stains from the teeth. Once this is done, the teeth are flossed carefully and polished to a brilliant shine. Dr. Letran will then come into the office and examine your teeth. The doctor is looking for cavities, problem areas and issues concerning restorations you currently have in your mouth. We even perform an oral cancer screening at your examination appointment as a way to detect minor issues before they’re able to get worse.
