What are Dental Emergencies?

A dental emergency can leave you with severe pain and frustration. We offer emergency care to patients of all ages and for those who have either been to our office before or are completely new. The right emergency treatment can help to prevent a problem from getting worse.

Why should you seek treatment for Dental Emergencies?

It’s not uncommon for a dental emergency to get in the way of living life to the fullest. The problem with dental issues is that they rarely go away on their own. Treatment is necessary to prevent the emergency from becoming worse. A minor problem can become more major, requiring more advanced treatment.

What are common Dental Emergencies?

A dental emergency can often strike at any time and for any reason. The best way to prevent an emergency from happening is by keeping up with routine preventative care. Some of the more common emergencies we see include:

  • Sensitivity and toothache
  • Abscesses and infections
  • Wisdom tooth pain and discomfort
  • Broken, fractured or cracked teeth
  • TMJ pain and discomfort
  • Bleeding, inflamed gums
  • Post-operative complications

What can be expected during an Emergency appointment?

The appointment will begin with an exam performed by Dr. Letran. We will look for the problem and take x-rays as needed. These x-rays can give us a clear view of everything going on below the surface. If there’s an infection present, we’ll often prescribe antibiotics before any other treatment is started. We will do everything we can to treat the issue so that you can leave our office pain-free. While some emergencies are unavoidable, it’s important to keep up with routine dental care to prevent a dental problem from happening in the future.

We’ve proudly been serving those in and around the Mountain View and El Monte areas for the past 15 years with the ability to fully offer Spanish bilingual services. If you’re experiencing an emergency, we welcome you to call our office so that we can get you in as soon as possible.
